The digital logic of computers provides the framework for most things in our world and digital form-shaping is no exception to that.
It uses the toolbox of computer technology, which is why everything applies to it that would apply to anything digital: precise mathematical background, flexibility of manipulation – filtering, organization, evaluation and the possibility of undoing.
The aim of digital form-shaping is not to make analogue form-shaping obsolete, especially because it is more indirect and uses more over-effects and is less sensitive.
Digital form-shaping is a contemporary language of form with special advantages, character and accessibility. Its practice needs a special way of thinking and the knowledge of software and machinery – this is what we do in the Digital Form-shaping Laboratory.
